achon University’s Global Campus made an agreement with Central Michigan University in June, 2004. The contents of the agreement were mainly a visiting student program, a visiting lecture program and a professor exchange program. Central Michigan University is an education-centered university, recently selected as an outstanding educational institute by the Carnegie Foundation.
  Established in 1892, Central Michigan University (CMU) was originally founded as a school for teacher and business education. Today, this doctoral research university is the fourth largest institution in Michigan and among the 100 largest public universities nationally. The University operates a network of CMU Learning Centers in more than 50 locations throughout the United States, Canada and Mexico. It has awarded degrees to more than 70,000 students through its Global Campus since 1971. Programs are offered at undergraduate, masters, professional and doctoral levels, including non-degree certifications. CMU has the following departments; College of Administration, College of Communication and Fine Arts, College of Education and Human Services, College of Graduate Studies, College of Health Professions, College of Humanities and Social and Behavioral Sciences, College of Medicine, College of Science and Technology. Among the courses, quite interestingly, there is a case study course of the public administration of Seoul.
  In CMU, athletic activities are also highly active. Sport games are divided into men’s and women’s. Baseball, soccer, basketball, cross country, track, and field are included in men’s sport.   Central Michigan University is located at Mount Pleasant, a safe, small town in the heart of Michigan’s Lower Peninsula. Mount Pleasant has friendly people and beautiful surroundings, a low cost of living, and lakes, rivers and ski resorts are all nearby. There are some fun facts about Mount Pleasant. First, Mount Pleasant is the most common city name in the United States. For example, Mount Pleasant, North Carolina and Mount Pleasant, Cass County, Indiana. Second, there are more than 15 local parks in the area and golf enthusiasts can enjoy dozens of local courses within a 30-minute drive of the city. Third, famous residents of Mount Pleasant include: John Engler who is the former Michigan governor, Kelly Robbins the professional golfer, Dan Schafer the professional musician and songwriter.
  Finally, Central Michigan University’s mission statement: “At Central Michigan University, we are a community committed to the pursuit of knowledge, wisdom, discovery, and creativity. We provide student-centered education and foster personal and intellectual growth to prepare students for productive careers, meaningful lives, and responsible citizenship in a global society.” In addition, CMU’s core values are as follows: “To achieve our mission, we adhere to the core values of integrity, respect, compassion, inclusiveness, social responsibility, excellence and innovation.”
