Have you ever cooked a meal without relying on instant ramen or a simple egg fry? While ramen and fried eggs are convenient and tasty, I encourage you to try preparing more complex dishes. Cooking your own meal offers numerous benefits beyond just enjoying the food. Even though my mother can make more delicious dishes, I find cooking myself to be a rewarding experience. Here are three joys that come from cooking
First Joy
The first joy comes from engaging all five senses while cooking. When I cook, my senses are fully involved. I can feel the texture of ingredients as I wash and cut them. I hear the satisfying sounds of soup boiling and meat sizzling. Ingredients transform into vibrant colors as they cook. My favorite part is the aroma—grilling garlic and onions fills the kitchen with a wonderful smell. Experiencing these sensory pleasures brings me happiness and a sense of peace.
Second Joy
The biggest reason for cooking is enjoying delicious food. Although my first attempts might not turn out perfect, even if I follow a recipe from a YouTube tutorial, repeated efforts lead to better results. By experimenting with ingredients and techniques, I can find a recipe that works well. The food I cook myself tastes better because I understand every step of the process and experience a sense of achievement.
Third Joy
The third joy comes from seeing others enjoy the food you’ve prepared. It feels great to watch them eat your dish, and it makes you even happier when they say, "It's delicious."
Sometimes, I visit grocery stores to explore different ingredients. I find it fun to discover the prices of ingredients I hadn't noticed before and to check out the variety of available items. Try cooking for yourself! You’ll feel happy even if the results aren’t perfect.
