Medical school is only for students who get good grades in high school but it’s more difficult to fully express what it takes to get there. Therefore, many students only dream of getting into the College of Medicine. Furthermore, only a limited number of students can enter due to the fixed number of freshmen allowed by the university. But don’t worry. Here is Gachon Advanced Institute for Health Science and Technology (GAIHST) Student Research Internship Program in which students can indirectly experience what, in the past, only senior medical students had access to.
GAIHST Student Research Internship Program is a program started last year. This year, the second program continues for senior, graduate, and postgraduate students. (Medical school students who are in a regular course can apply in their first year.) This program offers an opportunity to those with interest or aptitude to do research in a GAIHST professor`s laboratory for a period of four to six weeks. The purpose of this program is to give students the opportunity and help to find their dreams. First, when you apply for the program, refer to GAIHST’s homepage for the professor’s introduction menu or upload the program blurb in PDF. Then, choose two professor preferences and submit the application. The application will be chosen by the professor’s evaluation. Applications should be sent to the GAIHST organization email (gaihst@gachon.ac.kr). The application submission date is from May 19th to June 18th, 2017. You can download the application form from the GAIHST homepage notice (http://gaihst.gachon.ac.kr).
There are 2 programs which run for 4 weeks from 3 July to 28 July 2017 and a 6-week course from 3 July to 11 August 2017. Selected students can join the professor’s laboratory full-time. Professors Kang Dong-Wu, Kim Gwang-Ki, Kim Haeng-Geun, Jang Ho-Hui, Jeon Hee-Sook, Jeong Seong-Won, Jin Mi-Rim and Choi Yun-Hyeong are available for the 4 week programs, and Professors Kim Gwang-Ki, Jeong Gu-Bo, Jeong Seong-Won and Jin Mi-Rim are available for the 6 week programs. (Professors Kim Gwang-Ki, Jeong Seong-Won and Jin Mi-Rim professor are available for both the 4 week and 6 week programs.) Selected members are different for each professor. Successful applicants to the program are announced on GAIHST’s homepage on the 23 June 2017. There is an orientation at Gachon University’s Lee Gil-Yeo Diabetes Research Institute laboratory, 4th floor classroom at 3 July 2017 9:30 am for successful applicants. There is completion ceremony on 28 July 2017 at 2 pm. The students who complete all trial periods are given research supplements (4 weeks 300,000won, 6 weeks 500,000won) and certificates. Also, when Songdo Smart Valley dormitory has finished its foundation, they will select some students who want to be in the dormitory. Staying in the dormitory, however, is not free. If you stay in the dormitory, you need to pay for it. In the application, they need your name, date of birth, picture, gender, contact address, where you belong to, academic background, first choice professor, second choice professor, whether you choose dormitory, participation motive, area you want to research, proof of enrollment (or diploma) one piece (scan file: jpg), and transcript (scan file: jpg). An original certificate is only needed for the people who passed.

Medical students say that they have a lot of work. This means that many events happen in medical school. However, we can`t easily know what is happening there unless we hear from the medical school students directly. How about experiencing directly instead of hearing what they say? You will know what they are doing and experiencing in the school through this program. This can be a once in a life time chance and applying is simple. It is recommended that many students take part in this program.< Copyright © The Gachon Herald All rights reserved > |
